Lucille is buried about 100 yards to the North East of Jimi. Walk North East towards the bell tower and then past the bell tower. Her grave is North East of the bell tower about half way between the bell tower and the trees to the North East of the tower.
Lucille was born to Preston Murice Jeter and Clarice Jeter, October 12, 1925 in Seattle, Washington.
Al Hendrix and Lucille married on March 31, 1942, at the Seattle courthouse, and just three days later Al was shipped off to Fort Sill in Oklahoma for basic training. Jimi was born November 27, 1942. Lucille named Jimi, "Johnny Allen". While Al was away Lucille was hospitalized with tuberculosis and Jimi was being taken care of by Lucille's mother, Clarice.
Al returned to Seattle in September 1945, and changed his son's name to James Marshall. Al and Jimi then lived with Lucille's sister, Delores, and her three kids. They all lived in Delores apartment at Yesler Terrace. Lucille showed up soon after and asked if Al would like to make a go of their marriage. Al agreed.
Al and Lucille then moved into a room with Jimi at the Golden Hotel on 10th Avenue. Al got a job aboard a merchant marine victory ship, the Marshall, and traveled to Japan. When he got back two weeks later, the room was locked up and Lucille and Jimi were gone. It turned out Jimi had gone with Clarice on a trip to Kansas, and nobody knew exactly where Lucille was. When Lucille came back they reconciled again.
Lucille got pregnant and gave birth to a son, Leon, on January 13, 1948. Lucille admitted the child wasn't Al's. Again in 1948, Lucille was pregnant, and again Al wasn't the father. Joey was born in late 1948.
Al Hendrix and Lucile finally divorced in 1950 and Al got custody of the 3 boys. Lucille had two daughters after their divorce, Cathleen and Pam, and another boy, Alfred.
Lucille died in 1958 while Al and Jimi were living at McKay's boarding house. She had been in the hospital a few times just before she died. Her ill health and death were related to her years of alcohol abuse. She died of Cirrhosis of the Liver / ruptured spleen. She was just 32 years old.
