COLLINS, CALVIN W.

Age 78, of Sheldon Road, Freeville, NY passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at home after a lengthy illness.

"Cal" was born July 16, 1937 in Canisteo, NY, a son of the late Calvin and Laura Sluyter Collins.

His family moved to Lansing, NY while Cal was a youth and resided in Myers and then moved to Asbury Road in 1950. He served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1958 and was employed at Morse Chain Borg Warner for 32 years retiring as a Quality Engineer. On July 26, 1958 he was married to the former Vivian Gunther who survives. Cal was a 55 year member of Lansing Masonic Lodge and a 45 year member of Hudson-Fulton Dryden Chapter #250, O.E.S. and was a two time Past District Lecturer. He was an avid golfer, dedicated husband, father and grandfather who worked hard to make his family comfortable. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Vivian Collins at home; his children, Karen (Peter) Salino of Trumansburg and Jeffery (Lisa) Collins of Woodstock, NY; grandchildren, Stephen M. Salino, Craig M. Salino and Lily C. Collins; a sister, Bertha M. (Bert) Zick of Green Cove Springs, FL; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Doris Collins and Janet Ward.

Funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Wheat officiating.

Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden.

Friends are invited to call from 4 to 6 PM, Wednesday, Feb. 17th at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Members of the local Masonic Lodges will provide services at 6 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
