Mr. Pitts was the retired owner of A.L. Pitts & Son Plumbing.
He was preceded in death by a son, Alvin Pitts Jr. and two brothers, Claude S. Pitts and William E. Pitts.
Survivors include his companion of 35 years, Charlotte Storm; two daughters, Debbie Lee and husband Randy of Fredericksburg and Sophia Ryder and husband Mike of Stafford; one son, Gregory Pitts of Fredericksburg; five grandchildren, Alvin L. Pitts III, William C. Pitts, Matthew B. Pitts and wife Erin, Jessica Algert and husband David, and Elise Ryder; four great-grandchildren, Finn, Piper, Cohen, and Blake; a sister, Beatrice E. Hart of Caroline County; and several nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 17 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
