A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 1994, in the First Christian Church.

Dr. Callas, a Beaverton resident, died Oct. 21, 1994, of cancer at age 68.

He was born July 11, 1926, in Hood River. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he received his bachelor of science degree from Oregon State University.

He graduated from the University of Oregon Medical School, now Oregon Health Sciences University, in 1951 and served his internship at Valley Forge Army Hospital in Pennsylvania while serving in the U.S. Army.

He went into private practice as an obstetrician and gynecologist in 1957.

In 1984, he closed his practice and served as a civilian physician at the military hospital at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis for six years.

He retired in 1989 and returned to Portland. He was active in the First Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; son, Michael of McBride, British Columbia; daughters, Pamela Senders, Kathy Callas, Debra Domby and Rebecca Wright, all of Portland; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
