Paul H. Layton, 89, of Lake City, Fla. passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016 in the Haven Hospice in Lake City, Fla. after a brief illness.
He was born March 10, 1927 in Adel, Ga. to the late William Thomas and Effie (Kirkland)Layton. He worked as a diesel mechanic for many years with Scruggs Concrete Company and Hugh Blanton Auto Parts. He was Baptist by faith. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three children, Martha Holmes, Kenny Layton, and Roger Layton, two brothers, Arthur Layton and Billy Layton and sister, Cheryl Layton.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Lois Virginia Layton, Lake City, Fla., three daughters and son-in-law: Dawn Layton, Lake City, Fla., Tammy and Lamar Courson, Lake City, Fla., Salina Rumker, Dothan, Ala., son, Rick Layton, Lake City, Fla., 16 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren, two sisters: Grace Scarborough, Adel, Judy Weldon, Meriwether County, Ga., brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Sara Layton, Lithia Springs, Ga.: and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Feb. 13, 2016 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial in Fellowship Cemetery in Cecil, Ga.
