PORTSMOUTH, Va.- Leslie Horton Parker , 60, passed away on August 25, 2015 at her home in Portsmouth, VA. Born in Hollywood, CA to Leslie and Viola Horton, she graduated from Eau Claire High School, Columbia, SC; Berry College, Rome, GA; received her MFA in Theater and Speech from the University of South Carolina, and her Teaching Licensure from Texas Aand M. She was an accomplished artist and passionate and enthusiastic teacher of adults and children. Leslie was active in the cultural and historical organizations of Portsmouth,as well as the art community. She had agenerous, creative spirit, loved people, life and laughter. Acelebration of her life will be held November 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Laurel Baptist Church, 2250 Pine St., West Columbia, SC 29170. Visitation and reception will follow. Leslie is survived by her son, Cody Parker , of Richmond, VA; mother, Viola Horton of West Columbia; sister, Celva Horton of Savannah, GA; brothers, Edward and Gary Horton of Lexington and very special friend, Bob Scholes of Portsmouth, VA. She was preceded in death by her father, Les Horton. Memorials may be made to the Children's Ministry, Trinity Episcopal Church, 500 Court St. Portsmouth, VA 23704.
