Paul W. Atchley, 81, of Union Mills, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Charlie Atchley and Telonia Hill Atchley, and the widower of Hazel Tolley Atchley. He was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church.

He is survived by a son, Wesley Atchley of Rutherfordton; three daughters, Patricia Goforth of Union Mills, Debra Adkins of Wilkesboro, and Pam Humphries of Rutherfordton; two brothers, Charles Atchley of Union Mills, and Robert Atchley of Rutherfordton; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Welcome Home Baptist Church with the Revs. Dale Owens, Jack Crain, and Rick Wall, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at McMahan's Funeral Home.
