He was son of Urban A. Gregg (1824-1870) & Matilda Thair Earp (1822-1894). He married 16 Jan. 1877 in Fulton Co., GA (Marriage Book 1873-1888, p. 343 by Rev. W.M. Crumley M.G.) to Lizzie Luckie Jones.
They had 7 children before his death in 1895:
William Oliver 1878-1879,
Louis Crumley 1880-1957,
Elizabeth Jones 1882-1949,
Robert G. 1885-1978,
Emma J. 1887-1976,
William Alanson Jr. 1889-1956, and
Evelyn Bell 1892-1982.
