Uncle, brother and best friend. A graduate of Georgetown and Duke Universities, Alex held a Bachelors degree in Physics and Masters degrees in Physics and Mathematics. He enjoyed a very challenging and interesting career in his chosen field and later in other professional pursuits, wearing numerous hats in the Information Technology industry. Alex was a bright, industrious and athletic guy with a touch of perfectionism. If he met you and he liked you, you would know instantly. His influence was unmistakable among his close friends in life, and his legacy will be felt by those friends and their close friends in turn, farther and wider than he would have imagined (or maybe even liked). Alex passed away quietly the morning of February 15 after a brief battle with Burkitt's Lymphoma, with his friends and two Siberian Huskies at his side. He will be greatly missed.

Alex was born in Brunswick County, NC, and was the son of the late Clifford Alex Pitts and Lois Lee Williamson.

He is survived by Brother Arnold Pitts, and two nieces and three nephews.

A funeral service was held Friday, February 17th, at 1:30pm at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 200 Hillsborough St., Raleigh. Interment followed at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.
