Mr. Burkett died February 11, 2016 at the Louisiana Extended Care Hospital.
Sonny was a member of the St. Paschal Catholic Church. He was a retired supervisor with Chuck Burkett Construction Company. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Sonny enjoyed spending time with his family in the outdoors, especially white perch fishing.

(Chuck) Burkett, III, (Karen); Daughter, Cheryl Burkett Perkins (Ron); 5 Grandchildren, Nichole Amman, Carley Burkett, Ashley Burkett Hoyle (Sammy), Jeffrey Maroney (Kate) and Meggie Burkett Cattano (Taylor); 5 Great Grandchildren, Corree Layne Hoyle, Lyza Jane Hoyle, Cheyenne Maroney, Colton Maroney and Maddison Holifield; Sister, Althea Burkett Dayton; Brother-in-law, Robert D. Harris (Exa) and Teddy Harris (Diane); Sister-in-law, Merline Hunter (Lloyd); numerous loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
