Thomas J. Bickel, Sr., 67, Altoona, passed away Thursday afternoon at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late John C. and Mary E. (Leipold) Bickel.
Surviving are a son, Thomas J. Bickel, Jr. of Altoona; a daughter, Karen Kubsh of San Francisco, Calif.; three step-daughters: Denise Mesina in Florida, Jody Hildrich in Ariz., and Michele Hildrich in Texas; several grandchildren; two brothers: Ronald Bickel in Michigan and William Bickel of Altoona; four sisters: Donna Scherden of Altoona, Nancy Brobeck of Bellefonte, Barbara and Darlene Bickel, both of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Bickel; and two sisters: Carol and Joan Bickel.
Thomas retired from Highway Oil in 1982 as the service station manager. He enjoyed bowling and woodworking and was a master carpenter.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, February 1, 2016, at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Avenue, Altoona. There will be no funeral service and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
