Funeral services were held at the Cross Roads church in eastern Laclede county Sunday, February 24, 1952 for Rev. Walter Bingham who died in a nursing home near Falcon, MO February 22, 1952 conducted by Rev. Roy Jones and Rev. Curtis Wilson. Burial was in the Cross Roads cemetery in charge of Holman's Funeral Home. Pall bearers were six ministers, Dale Jones, Don Roper, Roy Jones, Roy Schrivenet, A.W. Bailey and Melvin Bingha. Robert Walter Bingham, youngest son of Ed and Martha Bingham was born near Dry Nob in Laclede County July 7, 1875 and spent most of his life in the county, living to the age of 76 years. His father was a pioneer minister. Walter Bingham married Dora Belle Ward September 11, 1893. To them were born nine children, seven of whom survive him. His wife and two daughters preceded him in death. The daughters were Ada and Alpha. His survivors include Mrs. Jess Wilson, of Falcon with which he made his home, Oscar Bingham, of Falcon, Arthur and Ruben Bingham, of Dry Nob, Raymond, of Marshfield, Mrs. Jake Starnes, of Dry Nob and Mrs. Fred Brumley, of the state of Washington. He also leaves 36 grandchildren and ? great grandchildren. He was the last in death of six boys, being preceded in death by George, Will, Jim, Ed and John Bingham. In early life he was converted and united with the Cross Roads Freewill Baptist church and continued in the faith until his death. he began preaching in 1896 when he was only 21 years old. On July 25, 1902 he was ordained by the Laclede County Association of the Free Will Baptist.
