Grand Junction resident, Susan Burk, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. She was 56 years old.
Susan was born the fifth child out of ten on July 30, 1959 to John Ivan and Ruth Marie (Vogel) Burk in Denver, Colorado. She spent her childhood and attended school in Frisco and Denver, graduating from Summit County High School in 1977.
Susan furthered her education in the late 90’s at Colorado Christian University and Mesa State University where she acquired two degrees.
Susan was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Philip’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, quilting, and crafts of any kind.
Susan is survived by her mother, Ruth Burk; brothers: Phil (Betty) Burk, Gerald (Beverly) Burk, Darrel (Violeta) Burk and Dennis (Janna) Burk; sisters: Annette (Mike) Anderson and Amy (Paul) Turley; sisters-in-law, Kathy Burk and Michelle Burk; 20 nieces and nephews and 18 great-nieces and nephews.
Susan was preceded in death by her father, Ivan Burk; two brothers: Joe and Michael; and a sister, Peggy.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, February 15, 2016 at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Cedaredge, Colorado. Inurnment will follow at Cedaredge Cemetery.
