Mr. William Robert Palmer, age 78 of Roaring River passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, February 15, 2016 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial with military honors by Post 1142 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard will be in Mount Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Mr. Palmer was born June 4, 1937 in Wilkes County to William John and Rebecca Elizabeth Barlow Palmer.
He served in the United States Navy for 20 years. He worked in Navy Intelligence and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson; Billy Shaun Palmer and one sister; Nellie Faye Palmer Walker.
He is survived by his wife; Shirley Jane Johnson Palmer of the home, five children; Janice Joan Shepherd and husband, Jerry of Roaring River, William Ronald (Billy) Palmer and wife, Diane of Sylvester, GA, Lena Jane Palmer of Roaring River, Keith Alan Palmer and wife, Page of Roaring River, Karen Lynne Palmer Cranor and husband, Jeffery Thomas of Boomer, twelve grandchildren; Charles Anthony York, Elaina Nicole McNeill, Ronnie Shane Palmer, Rachel Leigh Bentley, Lauren Yvonne McGee, Kristin Ann Palmer, Rodney Mark Norman, Amanda Page Palmer, Justin Dean Clary, Ashley Lynne Wilcox, Joseph Thomas Cranor, Laura Alexandria Davis and twenty-two Great Grandchildren.
