Robert L. Puryear, Jr., "Bob, Jr.", a 53 year resident of Annapolis died of natural causes on February 2.

Born on May 20, 1927 in South Boston, VA, he was schooled in Halifax County and served during World War II in the United States Navy.

For 30 plus years he worked as the General Manager of Britts Department Store in Annapolis and was also an MVA Motorcycle instructor for many years.

Bob, Jr. enjoyed volunteering his time at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Annapolis, where he was an active member. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, crabbing, riding his motorcycle across the country, and spending time with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Louis Puryear, Sr. and Robbie Upton Puryear; brothers Clayton and Lemmie Puryear; and sisters Catherine O'Coner, Mertle Huskey, Artie Wimberley, Susan Clark, and Renthis Thumm;

He is survived by his wife Vyrie Faye Reynolds Puryear, who he married on October 15, 1954; son Robert L. Puryear III of Harwood; daughter Carolyn Puryear McDonald (Ramon) of Harwood; granddaughter Shelly McDonald Yost (Jason) and their children Justice Faye and London Kaye; granddaughter Nicole McDonald Crosby; and granddaughter Jaclyn McDonald Linehan (Justin) and their children Vyrie Annabelle and Scarlett Leigh; brother Claude Puryear of Newport News, VA and sister Ida Puryear Simmons of South Boston, VA.

A visitation will be held Thursday February 4 from 6-8 pm at the Hardesty Funeral Home, P.A. 12 Ridgely Avenue Annapolis, MD 21401.

A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm on Friday February 5 at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Annapolis 710 Ridgely Avenue Annapolis, MD 21401 with interment following at the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake 90 Ritchie Highway Pasadena, MD 21122.
