Richard Thomas Linder, 1/8 Cherokee by Blood of the Wolf clan (Nanye'hi) and only child of John Ross Linder and Nancy Ann Ivey, b. Nov. 29, 1876 at Cherokee Indian Territory, now Oklahoma. He d. July 15, 1920 either at Grove, OK, where he was enumerated in the January 1920 census, or at Bayou Menard, Cherokee County, east of Fort Gibson, OK. He d. after a lengthy illness complicated by consumption (aka tuberculosis).

On Mar. 10, 1901 at the Cherokee Indian Territory, Richard m. Ida Lee Boaz, dau. of Dr. Albert Boaz and Belle Jane "Bellcie" Kay, b. Mar. 4, 1880 prob. at Scott County, AR. Richard's deteriorating health resulted in he and Ida divorcing in about 1912, although they remained friends. Ida m. 2) circa 1917, Carey Francis McElhaney, and had two additional children: (i) Lois McElhaney b. Nov. 11, 1918 at Menard and (ii) Stanley McElhaney, b. Feb. 3, 1921 at or near Sallisaw, OK. Ida m. a 3rd husband surnamed Tucker from whom she was divorced by the time of the 1930 census. Ida Lee d. Feb. 26, 1970 and is interred at Greenhill Cemetery at Muskogee, OK under the surname of her 2nd husband.

Richard Thomas Linder and Ida Lee Boaz had five children, 1/16 Cherokee by blood:

• i. Inez Linder, b. Mar. 18, 1902 at Wagoner in Creek Indian Territory (now Wagoner County, OK) and d. in 1954 at Tulsa, OK; m. Alfred Harp. Two children of the family.

• ii. Geneva Belle Linder, b. Aug. 31, 1903 at Bayou Manard at Cherokee Indian Terr., d. June 27, 1994 at Tulsa, OK; m. Feb. 2, 1923 at Muskogee County, OK as his 2nd wife, Leonard Rife Chapman, b. June 19, 1899 at Mansfield, MO. He d. June 23, 1976 at Muskogee, OK. Both are interred at Greenhill Cemetery at Muskogee. Seven children of the family. By his 1st wife Bessie Davis, Leonard had one child, s. Ralph Richard "Red" Chapman, b. Feb. 18, 1920 at Muskogee, OK.

• iii. Valda Allyeen Linder, b. Apr. 24, 1905 at Bayou Manard at Cherokee Indian Terr., d. Jan. 5, 1996 at Guthrie, OK; m. Earl Newton, who d. Dec. 23, 1966 at Muskogee, OK. One child of the family.

• iv. Mamye "Maime" Alice Linder, b. Oct. 2, 1907 at unincorporated Manard, Cherokee County, OK; m. May 10, 1930 at Pawhuska, OK, James Clarence Ellis, s. of James W. Ellis and Lena Fickel, b. Mar. 28, 1907 either at Keokuk, Iowa or Clarke County, MO. He d. Mar. 19, 1980 at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Three children of the family.

• v. Richard Hadley Linder, b. Nov. 2, 1911 at Bayou Manard, Cherokee County, OK, d. Mar. 27, 2000 at Las Vegas, NV; m. the Cherokee Hazel P. Moore, who d. Apr. 19, 2003 also at Las Vegas, NV. Five children of the family.
