Tom Beck Sr.

Walhalla -- Tom Beck Sr. 79, of the Zion Community, Rt. 1, Walhalla, died at his residence Saturday morning after several months of declining health.

He was born in Rabun County, Ga., a son of the late Sam and Arah Powell Beck. He was a farmer and Lumberman and a member of the Extension Department of Rocky Knoll Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lena Kimbrell Beck of the home; two sons, Tom Beck Jr. of Westminster, Ben Beck of Anderson; four daughters, Mrs. Alma Wyatt, Mrs. Gladys Pepper, Mrs. Lucille Thompson, all of Walhalla, Mrs. Arah Prater of Barnwell; a brother, Major Beck of Rock Hill; 20 grandchildren; Eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Davenport Funeral Home by the Revs. Bill Compton and Carl Raines. Burial will be in Oconee Memorial Park.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The family is at the residence.
