Mildred Eileen Jennings, 90, of Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at St. Luke's Cushing Hospital with her daughter by her side. She was born September 23, 1925 in St. Catharine, Missouri to Herman Russell Wyant and Rosa Lee Wyant. She graduated from Purdin High School in 1943. She then moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she worked at Perfection Stove Company and the Quartermaster. She met her husband, Roland Kenneth Jennings, on a blind date. He had just returned from serving in the Marines during World War II. They were married on October 19, 1946 in Kansas City, Kansas. Mildred was a homemaker during the years her children were in school. When they were grown, she found employment with Leavenworth County, working in the County Treasurer's Office as well as the County Clerk's Office. She retired from the County in 1995. She was the ultimate caregiver, always putting others' needs before her own. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Leavenworth. Survivors include her daughter Phyllis Fleming (Michael) of Leavenworth, Kansas, grandchildren Sheri Fleming (Bryan Traylor), Bradley Fleming (Laurel Wimberg), Patricia Jennings (Jaime Kell), Kenneth Jennings, 5 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Russell Leroy Jennings and one granddaughter, Elizabeth. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 16, 2016 from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm at Davis Funeral Chapel, with services following at 1:30 pm, with Rev. Jerry Wells presiding. Burial will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
