John married Elizabeth Ann "Eliza" Green 15 Jun 1878 in Grant Co, IN. In addition to those below, they had a son Charles O. Taylor* all in Grant Co, IN. John and Eliza were in Milford, IL in 1880 living with John's granduncle Robert and wife Marillis. John was divorced from Eliza some time after 1887. He married widow Sophia E. Smith nee Cook in 1897 with whom he had no kids. He was living with Sophia, his sons Herman and Earnest and her kids Dora and Anna in 1900 in Howard Co, IN. His sons Earl and Charles were living nearby with their Taylor grandparents. In late 1911 probate for his daughter in law Anna O. Taylor nee Smith established John as the guardian of her and Earl's kids, Bernice and Josephine who were living with John in Howard County, Indiana at that time. John was widowed by 1913 and by 1930 was an inmate at the Odd Fellows Home and Hospital in Greensburg, Decatur Co, IN where he died.
John bought 6 plots in section 611 of Crown Point Cem, 3 lined on one side and 3 directly opposite. The three on one side are: Eliza A. Taylor, John W. Taylor and Sophia E. Taylor.
