Actor. Born Charles Sebastian Thomas Cabot in London. He worked both as a mechanic and a chauffer before making his uncredited screen debut in 1935's 'Foreign Affaires .' He won a steady string of bit roles for the next ten years before landing the prominent role of Iago in 1946's 'Othello.' The following year he relocated to the United States where he appeared in such films as 'Ivanhoe' in 1952, 'Kismet' in 1955, 'The Time Machine' in 1960, and 'The Family Jewels' in 1965. The following year he won one of his more memorable roles, that of Mr French in the television series 'Family Affair.' The series ran until 1971. Concurently he became a popular voice over actor lending his talents to such projects as the animated Winnie the Pooh series of films, and 'The Jungle Book.' He appeared in a pair of Christmas television movie specials in 1973 and 1974, 'Miracle on 34th Street' and 'The City that Forgot About Christmas.' He settled in British Columbia where he succumbed to a stroke at the age of fifty-nine.
