James W. Curtis, of Sabina, died last week at the home of his daughter; Mrs. J. B. Mark, in Fayette county, aged eighty years. The deceased was one of the pioneer merchants of Sabina and was a charter member of Sabina lodge F. & A. M., he having been a Mason for fifty years. he retired from active business several years ago, soon after the death of Mrs. Curtis. He made his home with his son, H. L. Curtis, until recently, when he went to the home of his daughter, in Fayette county. The deceased occupied an exalted position in the esteem of the community during his long and exemplary life. He is survived by three sons and two daughters-- Mrssrs. H.C., S.E. and H. L. Curtis, and Mrs. G. L. White and Mrs. J. B. Marks. One son recently died in El Paso, Texas. His funeral occurred last Thursday, in charge of the Sabina lodge F. & A. M. A good man has gone to his reward.
