Bessie Faye Greene Warden
Bessie Faye Greene Warden, 98, of Beckley passed away at the Bowers Hospice House, Prosperity, Friday, March 26, 2010, following a long illness.
Born August 1, 1911, at Camp Creek, W.Va., she was the eldest child of the late Oscar and Stacy Basham Greene.
Mrs. Warden spent her first sixteen years in Camp Creek, W.Va.; she was a homemaker, loved to crochet, was an avid gardener, and most of all loved spending time with her children and grandchildren; she was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, a member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Beckley and last attended the St. Mary’s Methodist Church with her friend and neighbor Helen Turner.
She was preceded in death by her husband Homer R. Warden, her former husband Henry E. Peraldo, a great-grandchild: Amanda Russell, two brothers: Willard and Emmett Greene, five sisters: Lee Powell, Ann Bowman, Nellie Jones, Betty Roop, and Joyce Gunnoe.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Henry Peraldo and wife Shirley of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Martha Hicks of Winter Park, Fla., Sharon Matherly and husband John of Beckley, and Homer A. Warden and wife Janet of Stanaford Road, one brother: John Greene of Miss., a stepsister: (Honey) Jane Popovich of Alexandria, Va., her precious grandchildren: Debbie Russell and husband Ron, Henry Peraldo, Arnold David Peraldo, Anita Tucker and husband Tom, Karen McKee and husband Dann, Ronda Hornbeck and husband John, Nina Gipson, John Mark Matherly, Brad Matherly, Robert Warden, and Alan Warden, ten great-grandchildren, one special neighbor and friend: Daryll Quesenberry of Beckley, her special pet Angel and a host of extended family and friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Steve Rector. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
