Reed Michael Lehnert passed away peacefully at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton, OR, on October 20, 2014 at the age of 43. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 24, 2014 at the First Assembly of God Church in Pendleton.

Reed was born on October 22, 1970 in Oregon City, OR. He was the oldest of two living brothers with parents Richard Lehnert and Judy Ward Lehnert. He graduated from Pilot Rock High School in 1989, where he was a three sport athlete for four years, especially loving football. He was a member of the 1988 State Champion Rocket baseball team. While in High School he worked for the Oregon Department of Forestry as a wild land firefighter. He grew up hunting and fishing with his family in Eastern Oregon. After graduation he joined the United States Navy and became a Corpsman. He took great pride in being stationed with the United States Marines in 29 Palms, CA as “Doc”. He was recognized as a true “Desert Rat” by the Marines he took care of. This was special to him because his grandpa “Pops” was a Marine during WWII. After the Navy he worked various jobs, the most meaningful being, taking care of a disabled boy at Scappoose School district and eventually caring for veterans in the VA clinic as a Medical Assistant in Vancouver, WA. He was a Nationally Certified EMT which was an important achievement to him. He spent his life caring for others who needed his medical assistance and compassionate heart.

Reed was the father of three beautiful children, daughter Sharayah Lehnert of Colorado, son Raiden Lehnert of Pendleton, OR and step-daughter Cassie Amick of Vancouver, WA. He was married to Stephanie Miller Lehnert in 2013. He took great pride in watching his son Raiden play football.

He loved being an Uncle to Reeghan, Raylee, Aubrey and Evan Lehnert. He spent as many hours as he was able to, supporting them and watching them participate in sports.

Reed is survived by his wife Stephanie Miller Lehnert and his son Raiden Lehnert of Pendleton. His daughter Sharayah Lehnert of Colorado. His step-daughter Cassie Amick of Vancouver, WA. His mother Judy Ward Lehnert of Pendleton. His brother Ryan Lehnert of Pendleton. His nieces and nephew Reeghan, Raylee, Aubrey and Evan Lehnert of Pendleton.

Reed was preceded in death by his father Richard Lehnert and his older brother Jason Lehnert who died at birth.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Anthony Hospice, Wounded Warriors Project, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or the Pilot Rock Booster Club for a scholarship in his name in care of Pendleton Pioneer Chapel, Folsom-Bishop, 131 SE Byers Ave., Pendleton, OR 97801.
