Ruth E. Patterson, 99, of Rock Island, IL, formerly of Moline and Milan, IL, died Monday, February 08, 2016, at Friendship Manor, Rock Island, IL.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Faith Evangelical Free Church in Moline or Friendship Manor.

Ruth was born on July 14, 1916, in Wayne County, Iowa the daughter of Stanton and Ethel Hartley Albertson. She married Floyd William Patterson on January 31, 1934 in Unionville, Missouri and he preceded her in death on May 1, 1970.

As a young mother, Ruth was a homemaker. She went on to be employed as a sales clerk with the former Montgomery Ward for almost 25 years retiring as a department manager. Ruth was an avid traveler and enjoyed her visits to the Holy land, Austria, Italy, Colorado, California, Puerto Rico and Peggy’s Cove which she dearly loved. She truly loved her church and her family gatherings, she was a very proud grandmother to so many.

Ruth was a 60-year member of Faith Evangelical Free Church, serving in many capacities; choir, Sunday school teacher and women’s groups within the church. Ruth’s activities extended outside the church as she was also a member of PTA, Home Extension and the Sewing Handywork.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; twin infant sons – Billy and Bobby; daughters, Jane Barr and Judy Combes; parents, Stanton and Ethel Albertson; sisters, Alice and Mary; brothers, Frank and Earnie.
