Son of John Martin Brown & Mary Francis Whited Brown. Elbert McKinley Brown, 77, of Swords Creek died Saturday, May 14, 1994, at a Tazewell, Va., hospital.
Born in Russell County, he was the son of the late John Martin and Mary Frances Whited Brown. He was a retired coal miner, formerly employed by the Meadow Coal Company in Swords Creek.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Pauline Barnes Brown; two brothers, Edward "Dick" Brown and James Robert Brown; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Griffith; and one grandson, Jerry Lynn Gilbert.
Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Shirley) Russ of Wardell, Va., Mrs. Grat (Dana) Harrison of Richlands, Va., and Mrs. Jacqueline Gilbert of Johnson City, Tenn,; one son, Jerry McKinley Brown of Belfast, Va.; sisters, Mrs. Ollie Boyd of Lebanon, Va, Mrs. Goldie Compton of Honaker, Va., Mrs. Sally Irene Breedlove and Mrs. Audrey Ward, both of Swords Creek; brother, Mack Brown of Swords Creek; thirteen grandchildren and six great-greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Singleton Funeral Chapel in Cedar Bluff with the Rev. Ancil Childress and the Rev. Kyle Brown officiating.
Burial will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
