Jeffrey Moral Newton, 46, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007, after a lengthy battle with illness for several years. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Farmer Funeral Home. Burial followed in Ayden Cemetery. The Rev. Don Ribeiro and the Rev. Roger Tripp officiated. Jeff was born in Greene County on May 1, 1960. He attended Greene County Schools and was a 1978 graduate of Greene Central High School. He then attended Lenoir Community College for a year. He started his career in the Tobacco Industry in 1980 working for A.C. Monk & Co., of Farmville. He took an entry level position and climbed the ranks to become an Assistant Vice-President in Sales, which allowed him to travel worldwide, including Europe, Brazil and Russia. He completed his career in Tobacco in 1999 with the same company, operating then as DIMON International. He was a member of Ormondsville Free Will Baptist Church and the Maury Ruritan Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Nora Lee Bowen Newton; grandparents, William and Annie Bowen; an uncle, Travis Bowen; and two aunts, Lena Allen and husband, Drew, of Horton's Corner, and Retha Croucher and husband, Glen, of Burlington. He is survived by his daughter, Annie C. Newton of Brazil; former wife, Dawn A. Newton of Winterville; and an aunt, Edna W. Bowen of Kinston.
