Walter R Owens age 94, of the High Point Community departed this life on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the Pioneer Community Hospital of Scott County. He was born October 13, 1921 in Scott County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Enmon and Kizzie (Lowe) Owens. He was a member of the High Point Baptist Church. He was united in marriage with his loving wife Pearl (Cross) Owens on September 9, 1937, he was a devoted Christian that gave his testimony to everyone he met, he also was a loving father, gardener, fisherman, coal miner for 21 years, and worked at Plateau Electric for 24 years after retiring. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife: Pearl (Cross) Owens; daughter: Marilyn Chadwick; son: Harry Lee Owens; (1)grandson: Brandon Owens; sister: Marie Goforth; mother and father-in-law: Frank and Elizabeth Massengale Cross.
He is survived by his (3) sons: Jimmy and wife Marva, Larry and wife Joyce of Oneida, Tennessee, Bobby and wife Sharlene of Old Hickory, Tennessee; (11) grandchildren, (25) great grandchildren, and (10) great-great grandchildren. He also leaves many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00 P.M. until time of funeral services at 7:00 P.M., Friday Evening, February 12, 2016 in the Chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home in Oneida, Tennessee with Bro. Dilmon Stanley Officiating. Music will be provided by Ashton Jeffers and Michelle Owens. Graveside service will be conducted Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 12:00 Noon in the Hazel Valley Cemetery in Oneida, Tennessee.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Four Oaks Funeral Home of Oneida is in charge of the arrangements for the family of Walter R Owens.
