Ida Elizabeth (Garnand) Conway of Bayfield, CO passed away at her home on Feb. 6, 2016, she was 94. Ida is survived by her children: Judy Baumgardner, Tom (Jan) Conway, James Conway, Lila Denton, Marilyn Conway & Michelle Conway; 13 grandchildren & 29 great grandchildren. Ida was born on October 10, 1921 to Dave & Avisa (Green) Garnand in Animas City, CO. She grew up on Pine Ridge (now known as Rafter J) a child of the depression, spoke of helping her dad cut railroad ties & helping the family grow potatoes to sell. On March 13, 1941 Ida married Tom Conway & they lived their entire lives in La Plata County. They started out in Animas City while Tom worked for the railroad, then they moved to a farm on the Florida Mesa from 1958 to 1982, where they raised cattle, chickens & hay; & milked at least one cow. Ida would save the money she made from selling milk & eggs, but would break into it to spend some on the treats for the grandchildren from the Bondad store. Tom & Ida spent their retirement years together in Bayfield, where Ida enjoyed: gardening, making potholders, quilting, embroidering & reading. She is preceded in death by her husband Tom Conway Sr.; daughter Ann Hately; & her grandson Steve Baumgardner. She will be greatly missed. Services will be held at the Life Church, 699 Bayfield Parkway on Sat. Feb. 13, 2016 at 2PM, with burial to follow at the Florida Cemetery.
