Allene Quidley Gaskins
Allene Quidley Gaskins, 77, of Buxton passed away on Thursday, Sept. 7 in her home from cancer. She was the daughter of the late Guy C. and Sadie Payne Quidley and the wife of Velton Keith Gaskins. After raising her family in Richmond, she retired and moved to Buxton where she enjoyed her hobbies of gardening and crocheting. She was treasurer of the Order of Eastern Star, Hatteras Island Chapter 303 and a member of Buxton United Methodist Church. Also surviving are two daughters, Brenda Darden of Kitty Hawk and Carol Gilliam of Glasgow, Ky.; six grandchildren, Scott Darden of Richmond, Shelly Darden of Los Angeles, SSgt. Garry Gilliam, II, USAF, ND, Christina Gilliam Pedigo of Temple Hill, Ky., Connie Gilliam of Ferguson, NY and Garland Gilliam of Temple Hill, Ky.; one great-granddaughter, five nephews and four nieces. She also was preceded in death by her sisters, baby Lorena, Ersie Wilmouth, Frances Jackson, and a brother, baby Robert. Funeral services were held at Buxton United Methodist Church on Saturday, Sept. 9 with Rev. Charles Moseley officiating. Burial was in the Quidley Cemetery in Buxton.
