Pittsburg – Clyde Grant Norris, 84 died at 9:10 am Sunday, May 14, 2000 in Carrier Mills Nursing Home. Funeral Home is Mitchell-Hughes and burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery with military rites. He had been a maintenance worker for the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife and Illinois Department of Public Aid Commodities. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion.
He was born July 12, 1915 in Chamnesstown to Noah and Lana Davis Norris. He married Virginia Rose Buhl on June 12, 1941 in Cape Girardeau and she died August 25, 1984. Survivors include 8 sons and 7 daughters-in-law, Marvin Norris and Rex A. and Anna Bell Norris of Johnston City; Noah Grant and Thelma Norris of Ewing; Robert and Janet Norris of Benton; Jerry and Yvonne Norris, Harvey and Karen Norris and Albert and Beth Norris, all of Marion; and Danny L. and Linda Norris of Sulligent AL, daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Ed Carlson of O'Fallon MO; 23 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters Velda Heltsley, Martha Durham and Dorothy Powell, all of Mesa AZ. His parents, son Jack Don Norris, 5 brothers and 2 sisters also preceded him in death.
