"MACFARLAN.- At Bridgend, Callander, on 19th inst., Alexander Norman Macfarlan, son of the late Captain Andrew Macfarlan, 91st Regiment of Foot.- Funeral to Arrochar Churchyard on Wednesday, 22nd inst., leaving Callander at 10 a.m., arriving Arrochar about 1 o'clock."

A man of unconventional habits and original outlook, Mr Macfarlan had been a picturesque figure in the Callander district for more than half a century."
