Mrs. Martin was born in Chillicothe, Missouri twenty-nine years ago, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Kirk of that city. There she spent her girlhood days, coming to California in 1906 to visit her sister, Mrs. Brittain, at Maryville. While there, she married Dr. Martin, the wedding ceremony occurring at the home of her sister in October of that year. Shortly after the wedding, Dr. Martin brought his bride to Fresno where she lived to the time of her death, becoming well known as a social figure in this city.
Surviving the deceased is the widower; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Kirk of Chillicothe, Missouri; and five sisters, Mrs. M. S. Brittain of Maryville, Calif., Mrs. S. B. Cameron of Jacksonville, Ill., Mrs. Frank Shaffer, Mrs. W. E. Rawlin and Mrs. Price Davis, all of Chillicothe, Missouri.
Mrs. M. T. Brittain and little niece, Dorothy Shaffer, arrived in Chillicothe at noon Saturday. The remains of her sister, Mrs. Martin, will arrive tonight at eight o'clock. Funeral services will be conducted at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Kirk Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Dr. Martin accompanied the remains as far as Kansas City, where he was so prostrated with grief he was unable to come any further." The Chillicothe Constitution, June 4, 1910
