Helen Louise Schillaci - 1935-2016
Helen Louise Schillaci was born to Carl and Mildred Prien on July 7, 1935, and passed away at home on February 3, 2016. Helen graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1953 and then attended The University of Houston School of Nursing. She completed her training as a Registered Nurse and went on to work at the VA Hospital, MD Anderson and Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital as a surgical nurse.
She was also proud of her leadership in the local branch of Compassionate Friends, an organization for parents who have lost children. She was also active in the Women's Branch of The Houston Oiler's Booster Club during the "Luv-Ya-Blue" Era.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mildred; her daughter, Linda Kay Schillaci; her brother, Johnny Prien; and her sister, JoAnn Rembert. Helen's spirit and memory will be shared in life by her loving husband, Dr. Harold Schillaci; her grandson, Trevor Schillaci and his mother, Kara Schillaci; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her positive attitude, even in the face of her own health struggles and she will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege to know her.
Visitation will take place on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. with burial to follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
