LAVALE, Md.--Charlotte Arbutus King Lee, 79, of LaVale, passed away Friday, February 5, 2016, at the Goodwill Mennonite Nursing Home in Grantsville, MD.
Born January 11, 1937, in Short Gap, WV, she was the daughter of the late Myrl Stanley Evans and Arbutus Louise Davis.
Besides her parents, Charlotte was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Ray Evans; three husbands, Wilbur O. King, Jr., Lester L. "Bill" Lee, and George B. Knisley; and brother-in-law, Harry Taylor.
Charlotte was a Fort Hill High School graduate. Following high school, she married and became a dedicated wife and mother. Charlotte enjoyed traveling, watching movies, listening to music, and cooking and entertaining her family. Most of all, Charlotte enjoyed spending time with her grandsons. She always attended their sporting events and was involved in all of their activities.
She was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile Temple 118.
Charlotte is survived by her two daughters, Kathryn I. Hare and husband Jeffery, Cresaptown, MD, and Kelly K. Riggleman and husband David, Dunedin, FL; six grandsons, Bryan J. Hare, Matthew R. Hare, Andrew S. Hare, Grant D. Riggleman, Jonathan D. Riggleman, and Benjamin M. Riggleman; brothers, Myrl R. Evans and wife Loretta, Old Furnace Road, John J. "Jack" Evans and wife Elizabeth, Knoxville, TN, Kenneth L. Evans and wife JoAnne, Ellerslie, and Donald Evans and wife Darlene, NC; and sisters, Shirley Lawrence and husband Donald, LaVale, Betty Jane Umstead, Ft. Ashby, WV, and Sandra K. Taylor, Cumberland, MD.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Charlotte's private caregivers and to the staff at Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Goodwill Mennonite Nursing Home, and Garrett County Hospice, who cared for Charlotte through her time of need.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy, Cresaptown, on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. The Daughters of the Nile Temple 118 will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Cresaptown United Methodist Church on Thursday, February 11, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Hal Atkins officiating.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church.
