Alyce C. Ziegler, age 93, passed away peacefully at her home in Roxbury surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 9, 2013. She was born in Waunakee on January 4, 1920 to the late Mathias and Helen (Dorn) Becker. Alyce was a graduate of Waunakee High School Class of 1938. She married Alexius “Allie” Ziegler at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waunakee on February 21, 1939. They were blessed with 68 years together. Together they were lifelong farmers and farmed in Dane, West Middleton, and Roxbury. Alyce had a love of the land, nature, and took pride in her gardening and flowers. She was known for her quick wit, sense of humor, and her unconditional love and support. Her life revolved around her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Upon retirement, Alyce and Allie enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent DePaul. She was a member of St. Norbert Catholic Church and the Council of Catholic Women.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Ruth), Jim (Pat), Jacqulin (Bob) Kruchten, Don (Clara), Bob (Monica), Joan (Tom) Colstad, Jane (John) Hart, Ed (Donna), Janice (Dick) Dederich, Kathy (Mark Ratto) Ziegler and Lori (Jim) Price; 37 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Eunice Becker, Teresa Ziegler, and Nell Bowar; brother-in-law, Bob Richter; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Greg Ziegler and Davie Ganser; two great-grandchildren, Jamie and Justin Ziegler; 10 sisters and 3 brothers, along with numerous brothers and sisters in-law .

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Norbert Catholic Church in Roxbury on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 11:00 am with Fr. Alex Navarro officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, where a rosary service will be held at 3:30 pm. Visitation will also be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 am until 10:45 am.
