Born in Pittsburgh, Charles was a son of the late George and Julia (Flaherty) Givens.
He served as a career officer in the United States Air Force until retiring and later served as a Civil Service Employee at the Quonset Naval Air Station for ten years.
In addition to his beloved wife, Charles is also survived by his loving children: M. Sgt. Kevin C. Givens, USAF, Ret., (Michele) of Melbourne, FL, General Keith M. Givens, USAF, (Christine) of Hughesville, MD, Chief M. Sgt. Sean M. Givens, USAF, (Kristen) of Warwick and Coleen A. Duran (Tony) of Warwick; a brother: Bud Givens of Pittsburgh, PA; fourteen grandchildren: Michael, Nicholas, Elizabeth, John, Adam, Ray, Jen, Brittany, Kerri, Caitlin, Nicole, Troy, Sean Jr., and Kyle; and three great-grandchildren: Haylee, Maddox and David. Charles and Jacqueline are also close friends of Michael Bacasa and his late wife Catherine Bacasa.
He was the brother of the late Robert, Donald, Richard, William and Martin Givens.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 9 AM from The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick (Exit 12-A off I-95) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Clement Church, 111 Long Street, Warwick.
Burial with full military honors in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
