Mrs. Mary A. Gregory, 71, of 522 1/2 S. Lincoln Ave. died at 6:05 a.m. Sunday, February 29, 1976, at Memorial Medical Center.

She was born in Taylorville, the daughter of Arch and Mary Smith Hawkins.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Illinois Department of Revenue.

Surviving are her husband, Ray L.; four sisters, Mrs. Ellen Freeny, Mrs. Thelma Peters, Mrs. Lily Hunn and Mrs. Dorothy Ziegler, all of Springfield; seven nieces and one nephews.

Services were at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home.

Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Walton T. Beck, husband of Mrs. Mary Beck, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Springfield, suffocated to death last night on the 15th floor of the Winecoff hotel, Atlanta, Ga., when the building burned, killing almost one third of the registered guests.

Mrs. Beck, the former Mary Hawkins, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Hawkins, of 1931 East Edwards street.

Mrs. Roy Ziegler and Mrs. Paul Hunn, sisters of Mrs. Beck, will leave for Jacksonville today.
