She graduated from Sylva Central High School in 1950 and from Western Carolina College, now known as Western Carolina University, with a BA in music and history in 1954. She later earned a master's degree in history from Western Carolina University. She had a lifelong career teaching music and social studies in Eden City Schools. She was active in The First Baptist Church of Eden as a pianist, choir director, and choir member. Eddie Lou loved to travel both abroad and in the United States.
Eddie Lou was a loving wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Black of Eden NC; parents Frank and Birdell Terrell of Sylva, NC; and brothers Kenneth Terrell of Phoenix, AZ and Bob Terrell of Asheville, NC.
Service was held at The First Baptist Church of Asheville on January 13, 2016.
