Obituary of Nellie M. Rhodes
Mrs. Nellie M. Rhodes, 83, formerly of Martinsburg RD 2, died Monday evening, Feb. 10, 1997, at the Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg, following a lengthy illness.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today at John C. Bolger Funeral Home, Martinsburg, by Pastor Christopher D. Bowman.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
Friends were to be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial donations may be given to the Martinsburg Community Library or the Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg.
Mrs. Rhodes was born Nov. 17, 1913, in McKee, East Freedom RD, the daughter of the late Willard and Jenny (Delozier) Shoenfelt. She married Leonard "Dutch" Rhodes June 10, 1934, in Cumberland, Md. He died Feb. 17, 1994.
Surviving are two daughters, Delores Sue Morvan of Bedford, Ohio; and Lois A. Cline of Osterburg; four sons, Edward B. of Roaring Spring; James W. of Martinsburg; and Barry L. "Butch" and Donald R., both of Martinsburg RD 2; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister Lois Claar of Martinsburg RD 1; and two brothers, Fred T. "Chalk" of McKee; and Howard "Jack" of Shippensburg, Cumberland County.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Gregory D. Morvan and Leonard E. Rhodes; a sister Mary B. Camerer; and three brothers, Willard, Robert and Donald Shoenfelt.
Mrs. Rhodes was a member of the Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, the Martinsburg Golden Age Club and the Martinsburg War Mothers.
She was a member of the Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg.
Mrs. Rhodes was a homemaker who enjoyed flowers, gardening and antiques.
