Mrs. Berry was born in Washington, D.C., but was a longtime resident of Virginia. Billie graduated from James Monroe High School in Fredericksburg and attended Mary Washington College. After her marriage to Nelson B. Berry, she and her husband briefly lived in Richmond before moving back to Fredericksburg, where she and her husband had grown up. They relocated to Vienna in 1966, where they lived for 38 years before retiring to St. James Plantation, Southport, N.C. Following college, until her retirement in 2002, she was employed by various companies including: the Richmond Area Heart Association, Reynolds Metal Company, Globe Newspapers, Record Printing Company, MAXM Systems, and Inova Health Systems.
Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Beveridge Berry, and her parents, Durwood and Helen Fodrie.
She is survived by her son, Nelson Earl Berry; a grandson, Brandon Lee Berry; her sister, Cynthia L. Counts; her brother, John Earl Fodrie; brother-in-law Travers Berry of Falmouth; a niece; a nephew; and several grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held in the Falmouth Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date in St. James.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Falmouth Cemetery Maintenance Fund, 2220 Warrenton Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22406.
