Joe B. Chambers

Portsmouth - Joe Bradford Chambers, Sr., 83, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was born in Eagan, TN, but after the age of ten, he was a lifetime resident of Portsmouth where he served as a police officer for the city of Portsmouth. Joe also faithfully served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ramona Chambers; a daughter, Patricia Chambers and partner Dana Griffin; a son, Joe B. Chambers, Jr.; and three grandchildren, Amy Dunn Brown and husband Michael, Cory Bradford Dunn and Joshua Chambers.

Joe will be greatly missed and will remain in the hearts of those who loved him forever.

A funeral service will be held 1 P.M. Thursday, May 21, at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 8:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association .
