On May 16, 1942 in New Carlisle, Emily married Clifford I. Kaiser, who preceded her in death on August 17, 2014. She was also preceded by grandchildren, Michael Parmelee and Kevin Kaiser; and sister, Ruth McQueeney.
Emily is survived by daughters, Nancy (George) Corr and Carol (Mike Fisher) Parmelee, both of Mishawaka; son, Robert (Vicki) Kaiser of Coulterville, CA; grandchildren, Robbie Kaiser of South Bend, Jennifer (Frank) Freund of Show Low, AZ, Jeffery (Heather) Kaiser of California, Betsy (Davin) Harpe of Greenwood, IN and Matthew (Erica) Parmelee of Osceola; eleven great grandchildren, Tyler, Alexis, Bryce and Breanna Parmelee, Blake Knepple, Max and Benjamin Freund, Wyatt, Charlotte and Maggie Harpe and Emily Kaiser; one sister, Helen Rainey of Homestead, FL; and one brother, Vernon Harrington of Grand Rapids, MI.
Emily retired after 20 years as a cook for the South Bend Community School Corporation. She then became a caretaker for residents at Corvilla for 15 years. She was a member of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church and a past member of Eastern Star. Emily was an excellent cook and seamstress and loved to embroider as well as read and travel. She was a loving wife, mother and grandma, and was devoted to her little companion dog, Beau.
The family would like to give special thanks to the loving caregivers at Hubbard Hill Estates and Hospice.
Funeral services for Emily will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, February 8, 2016 in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Rev. Dr. Patrick Somers will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
Memorial contributions may be donated to Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, 114 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN 46615.
