Enlisted 6/17/1861 at Warrenton, he was mustered into "C" Co. VA 49th Infantry as a Private.
Wounded slightly 7/21/1861 Battle of 1st Manassas.
Absent, detailed on extra duty in QuarterMaster's Department at Manassas, on Sept & Oct 1861 Roll through March & April 1862 Roll.
Absent, detailed on extra duty in QuarterMaster's Department at Richmond, on May & June 1862 Roll through Sept & Oct 1863 Roll.
Transferred into "C(3)" Co. VA 19th Battn Heavy Artillery.

The 19th Heavy Artillery Battalion was organized in June, 1862, with four companies, later increased to five.

Private James Minor Beckham was the son of Coleman Coals Beckham and Mary C Beckham. He was born in Culpepper Co, VA. He was married on 1 Sep 1866 in Albemarle Co, VA to Julia McCann Flannegan. Please correct the spelling of his
middle name to Minor. There is a James Madison Beckham who wrote the book about the Beckham family in Virginia but Pvt James Minor Beckham is not him.
