She was born July 30, 1947 in Cleveland, Texas to parents Jodie and Linnie Franklin who preceded her in death along with her husband, Willard Bell; and brothers, Lindon R. Franklin and Roy Evans. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1967 and owned/operated a beauty salon in Cleveland for 35+ years.

Survivors include her daughter, Wendy Bell-Gaia and husband Ricky; son, Jodie James and wife Kim; sisters, Frances and husband Tommy Gobert, Jeanie Armitage and husband Henry, and Betty Ann Bell; brothers, Doyle C. Evans and wife Myrtle, and Bobby Jo Franklin and wife Pat; grandchildren, Brandon Morris, Jaci Mae Bell, Jordan James, Jesse James and Micah Gaia; numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends.
