Bette Faye Fowler Davis, 85, a native of Rome, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on January 26, 2016.
Bette was born on March 10, 1930 to kind and affectionate parents: Bessie Richardson Fowler and Clifford Roscoe Fowler.
Bette was preceded in death by her loving and faithful husband, Herbert Luther Davis, after celebrating 59 years of marriage in 2010.
Bette was also preceded in death by her dear and beloved brother, Clifford Richard Fowler, also known as Butch.
Bette graduated from Rome Girls High School and relished time spent attending her annual high school reunions and visiting with her longtime friends and family.
Bette was intrigued by the history and the charm of her hometown and loved living life in Rome, Georgia.
She retired from lifelong work at the Coosa Valley Area Planning and Development Commission.
Bette's pride and joy were her treasured grandchildren: Melody, grandson-in-law, Andy, and Scott.
Bette enjoyed caring for her sweet mother for 28 continuous years during her mother's confinement to a nursing home and the last few years for her devoted husband, Herbert, during his lingering illness.
Bette spent her free time after retirement ministering and serving the home bound members of her church and took pleasure in gardening, cross-stitching, crocheting and decorating her beautiful home.
She was a lifelong Baptist whose desire for the truths, promises of hope and encouragement from God's Word, The Holy Bible, to be passed on to each upcoming generation. The Gospel message is that Jesus freely gives Salvation and Eternal Life to all who believe and put their trust in Him.
Bette was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church, a member of the HOPE Sunday School Class, with precious ladies whom she loved. She was also a member of the Joy Makers, special senior friends at church who shared monthly pot luck meals.
Bette, a loving and devoted mother, is survived by her cherished sons: Jeff, of Rome, Georgia and Cliff (Susan), of Jacksonville Florida.
Bette, an extremely proud Gramma, is also survived by her dearest grandchildren: Melody (Andy) of Jacksonville and Scott of Jacksonville.
Bette is also survived by her brothers: Phil (Syble)Fowler, of Rome, Georgia and Tony (Rhonda) Fowler of Suwanee, Georgia and her sisters- in- law: Barbara Davis (Rome, Georgia), Bette Stringfellow (Huntsville, Alabama), Katherine Davis (Macon, Georgia) and brother-in- law: Harold Davis, her husband's twin, (Chattanooga, Tennessee).
Bette will be fondly remembered for her delicious recipes she loved to treat for her family and friends such as her Caramel Cakes for birthday celebrations, Fresh Coconut Ambrosia at Thanksgiving and Christmas, Chicken Jambalaya, Chocolate Fudge Pie, Tea Cakes (which were served at Melody and Andy's Wedding Rehearsal Dinner) and White Chocolate Peanut Butter Crispy Candy, a Christmas holiday favorite.
The family will receive friends for a special time of Visitation at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel.
All are welcome to attend the Memorial Celebration honoring Bette's life at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 11, 2016, also, at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel.
The Interment will follow the Memorial Celebration on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The Celebration of Bette's life will be officiated by Dr. Dale Levan, Pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church, Rome, Georgia; and her son, Rev. Cliff Davis, Missions Pastor of First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Florida.
A special place of recognition will be reserved seating for her treasured friends of the HOPE Sunday School class as honorary pall bearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to Fellowship Baptist Church, 314 Burnett Ferry Road Rome, Georgia 30165.
Special thanks to her thoughtful and devoted brother, Phil, and his wife, Syble, who cared for Bette diligently and lovingly all through her life and especially after the passing of her husband, Herbert.
Special thanks also to her beloved son, Jeff, who attended to his mother during the past few months of her illness.
