Patricia Travis Eatherly, 67, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, after a courageous battle against ovarian and multiple myeloma cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones when she passed away and now has began her ultimate vacation with her Lord.

Memorial service: 3 p.m. Monday in the sanctuary of Southcliff Baptist Church, 4100 SW Loop 820, Fort Worth. The service will be presided over by the Rev. Dr. Carroll Marr, senior pastor at Southcliff Baptist Church. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Laurel Land Funeral Home.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to the "Pat Eatherly Overton Park Bench Memorial Fund" in care of State National Bank, 9100 Benbrook Blvd., Benbrook, Texas 76126; Community Hospice of Texas; or Southcliff Baptist Church Building Fund, 4100 SW Loop 820, Fort Worth, Texas 76109.

Pat was born March 25, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio, but grew up in Owensboro, Ky. She was a graduate of Owensboro High School and attended Georgetown College in Kentucky on a drama scholarship. Pat was always proud of her Kentucky roots. In 1958, Pat was crowned the Kentucky Derby Queen and represented Kentucky at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. From 1960 to 1961, Pat was a stewardess for United Airlines.

Pat was one of three daughters of the late Merle Travis, legendary guitarist and a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. She authored two books, "In Search of my Father," in 1988, and "A Scrapbook of my Daddy, Merle Travis," in 2000.

She was a 36-year member and longtime Sunday school teacher at Southcliff Baptist Church. Pat and Gene loved to do many things together, including world travel, ballroom dancing, gardening and entertaining family and friends. She loved being "Big Mama" to her grandchildren, Morgan, Truett and Levi. Pat was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Johnson, and father, Merle Robert Travis.

Survivors: Husband of 45 years, Charles Eugene Eatherly; daughters, Dawn Eatherly of Dallas and Paige Killian and husband, Kendall, and Tricia Davis and husband, Gideon, all of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Morgan and Truett Killian and Levi Davis, all of Fort Worth; and sisters, Merlene Maggini and Cindy Travis of Southern California.
