SPITLER, William J. (Bill) 93, of Springfield, died at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2004 in Kenton, Ohio. He was born in Waco, Texas on September 14, 1910 the son of Joseph and Alice (Boze) Spitler. He graduated from Springfield Business College and worked as secretary to the editor of the Springfield News-Sun and as an accountant at the Crowell-Collier Publishing Company. He retired as Deputy Auditor from the County Auditor's office in 1985. He enjoyed gardening, music, the theatre and shopping. Survivors include his three daughters and spouses, Sally Ann (James) Rowland, Rocky River, Ohio, Susan Lynn Heinzen, Springfield and Cindy Lou (Howard) Shepherd, Kenton, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Loretta A. in 1998; three brothers, Fred, Jack and Ferrol Spitler and his son-in-law, Stephen Heinzen. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Monday in St. Raphael Church. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or to Catholic Central High School.
