Obituary in Salt Lake "Tribune," 11/6/1932:

"George W. Oglesby, 81, former member of The Salt Lake Tribune printing staff, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. A. Stanton, 211 Seventh avenue, Saturday at 3:45 p. m. following a lingering illness.

He was born in England March 12, 1851, and at the age of 5 emigrated with his parents to Chicago, where they lived until 1862. The son then moved to Salt Lake, where he had lived since.

For many years Mr. Oglesby was engaged in newspaper printing, working for the Herald-Republican and later for The Tribune. During the last 25 years he had been retired.

Mr. Oglesby was an active member of Mount Moriah lodge No. 2, F. & A.M., and at the time of his death was the next oldest member of that lodge.

His wife, Charlotte Elizabeth Oglesby, died December 1, 1930. Surviving are his daughter, a son, George O. Oglesby, and a grandson, all of Salt Lake."
December 1, 1930. The record states the following: He was born in England March 12, 1851

The family left England aboard the ship, Horizon, May 25, 1856 and landed in Boston June 30, 1856. They appear to have stayed in Massachusetts for a time before going on to Chicago and this may be the reason he claimed he was born in Massachusetts on some of the census records.

1870 and 1920 census states he was born in England
