Marked with simplicity, funeral
services for Dr. David L. Barnard,
54, prominent Salt Lake physician,
who died unexpectedly of a heart attack
Monday, were conducted Wednesday
evening at the graveside at Mount Olivet

Dr. William H. Ensign, pastor of
the Westminster Presbyterian church,
administered the rites. Musical numbers
were sung by a women's trio.

More than 600 persons, including
social and civic leaders, physicians,
members of the army reserve corps,
and nurses of St. Mark's Hospital

A noted physician and surgeon, Barnard was born in Earlville, Illinois 27 Apr 1880 to David Luther Barnard and Sarah Bell McLaughlin. He received his MD from Northwestern University, Chicago in June 1907 and began his medical career at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He married on 3 Jun 1909 Mabel Alice Eager, night superintendent and surgical nurse at St. Mark's.
