Dorothy Victoria Fischer Elliott, 97 of California, MO. went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Moniteau Care Center in California, surrounded by her loving family, singing hymns. Dorothy was born November 6, 1918 in Jamestown, MO. to William Fischer and Biddie Marie Elizabeth Pennington Fischer. She was the youngest of four children. Her sisters Pearl Wetzig of Jefferson City, Edna Reed of Kansas City, and Lola Jobe of California all preceded her in death. Dorothy was united in Marriage on March 22, 1940 to Richard Beryl Elliott of Jamestown, MO whom preceded her in death. To this union two children were born, Janet Kaye Elliott Waterstradt on January 6, 1941 and Richard Beryl Elliott II on January 27, 1961. Dorothy loved her family, and enjoyed spending time with them. She will always be remembered for the wonderful feasts she prepared for them, cooking each of the grandchildren’s favorite foods and accompanied by her famous bread and butter pickles. Dorothy loved gardening, playing the piano and was a true Prayer Warrior. She was a Member of Church of God of Prophecy in California, MO. She served as a Girls Auxiliary leader at the Union Baptist Church in Jamestown. She was the Treasurer at New Hope Baptist Church, she worked as a Cub Scout leader and helped with the Boy Scout program at Jamestown. She also worked as a Home Health Aid in Moniteau County. Survivors include one daughter; Janet Waterstradt, one son; Richard Elliott, both of California, MO. three grandchildren; Cheryl Payton and husband Randy of California, Kevin W. Waterstradt and wife Robin of Athens, Michigan; Kerri Jenkins and husband Daniel of California, seven great-grandchildren; Franczhesca Martinez of Columbia, Cristina Martinez of Kansas City, Austin Payton and wife Laura of Holts Summit, Joshua Waterstradt of Colorado, Kayla and Patrick Waterstradt of Athens, Michigan; Alex Jenkins and wife Ashley of South Korea, eight great-great-grandchildren; Thea Payton, Brody Reece, Gavin Roberson, Kayelee Payton, James Roberson, Grady Payton, Addison Marie Jenkins, and Aric Liam Jenkins, also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Monday February 8, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Frank Hensley. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday February 7, 2016 from 2-4 P.M. at Bowlin- Cantriel Funeral Home. Memorials are to The Healing House and New Beginnings c/o the funeral home.
